A longer project than the norm

Its been on my list of things to buy for the tiny human for a few birthdays etc but we have just never got around to it so when I spotted a wooden play house going for sale at a bargain price on a buy and sell group I jumped on it.

It was very much pre-owned and needed a little TLC but it was ideal.

Day 1 involved putting the whole thing together (not as easy as it sounds I can assure you!) I had planned to stated painting the base coat but of course it started raining!

Finally the sun came back out and we could let the painting commence… at a very slow pace as we were being interrupted by an impatient tiny human who wanted to play right now…

We brought some of the Cuprinol wood paint in their lovely summer shades (I could have brought so many of them) and taped off the little windows. We started with the inside as we also had some cheap left over carpet tiles we planned to glue down inside but needed the painting finished first. The inside is an off white with dusty pink trim and the outside of the house has been done the opposite way round with the door and window frame finished in the off white.

Once the inside painting was done the carpet went down and then some solar powered fairy lights were hung. I wanted a slightly shabby look so nothing was done to perfection.

The outside only needed 2 thin coats of paint as it does dry really well and covers the wood nicely, so it didn’t take long at all to get it painted up.

It still needs some finishing touched particularly to the inside where some seats and decorations will be added but I have managed to pick up a few bits for the outside. Amazingly I came across these will in the 99p or less store!

I just need to make up a little hanging sign with the house number on it and then tackle the inside. However it has gone down a storm and Miss P has not stopped playing in there since.
